They are the thing that pops up on your screen that says download this or have this free offer or have something in return for an email address. In sharing your email address you give a company permission to start emailing you.
From a business perspective, they’re a really great way of making sure that those who are interested in your products or services, get onto your email database.

Why should you create a lead magnet?
Why should you be spending some time just doing this activity? It does take a little while to get it set up. So why is it going to be worth your while?
Email marketing is important. It is about building a one to one relationship and also giving you access to be able to email them, rather than just doing it through social media, for example.
Lead magnets are the way you get your target audience onto your database so that you can communicate with them regularly.
Once on your list, you can demonstrate your knowledge and get them trust you.
But the key is getting the right people on your list in the first place. There’s no point emailing people if they’re not your target audience.

How to plan a great lead magnet?
How do you make sure that the lead magnet you create is going to get the right subscribers on your list?
We need to make a plan and that starts with
Your goal
What do I want to achieve? You might want to get some new clients via a certain date, increase your turnover, raise awareness of what you do.
Make your goals specific. What does it look like in numbers? If you want to attract new clients or customers, how many clients do you want? What size are they? What sort of, income are they going to bring you?
Who are your target audience?
Who are the people that you want to start working with or you want to get on your mailing list? What do they do? Where are they based? What do they like? What sort of people are they?
Identify as much as you can about them so that you can understand more about them and what they need.
What are their challenges?
What challenges are those people facing? What question can you answer for them in the lead magnet you’re going to create? What challenge can you help them overcome? How can your expertise help with that? What sort of thing could you provide them that would help them get over that challenge? What do you know that they don’t know?
What mechanic are you going to use?
Is it a download template? A quiz? A calculator? Do you want to run a workshop? Or a series of workshops for free so they get to work with you.
There’s a lot of things that you could do. You need to explore whether they are right or wrong for your target audience and for you as well.
Have you got the time to create a great big download? Or can it be a one pager? Is a one pager an easy download for you to create?
