Why should emails be part of your marketing strategy?

The first reason is it’s not spammy. You are building a one to one relationship with someone. You’re hitting their inbox directly, and you are letting them know all about you, your business, your products, your services. And it’s all helping build a picture and helping them build trust with you and your brand.

The second reason is this. Have you heard of people that have been hacked on Facebook or they’ve lost access to their Instagram accounts? If they’re not doing anything other than social media then they haven’t got contact details. How can they rebuild that? They’ve got to start from scratch. If you’ve got email marketing going on, you’re already communicating with those people in a different way.

What is a lead magnet?

A lead magnet is a pop up box on a website that offers a freebie or a download or an offer. You pop your email address in and in return you get something free in exchange for entering your details. And then the company can they have your permission to start emailing you.

Lead magnets are a really good way of getting those people who are genuinely interested in what you’re offering, onto your email database onto your email list. They’ve given you permission to email them, so you’re not going be spamming them. You’re actually sending these people details about things that they are interested in.

Before you think about creating a lead magnet

I want you to have a think about the audience you want to reach. What are their troubles? What are their challenges? And can you help them with any of their challenges in the sort of lead magnet that you’re going to provide them? What is it that you offer that answers a need that they have? And how can you tease them with that information so that they get a bit of flavour of how you work?

Next, what is your reason for doing the lead magnet? Have you set yourself a goal of getting a certain amount of clients by the end of the year or, a certain amount of sales in a timeframe?

Give yourself a goal so you know why you’re doing a lead magnet.

You’re not just doing it because someone told you that you ought to be doing a lead magnet and getting people on your email list. There needs to be a reason why you’re doing it.
